SUMMER MAINTENANCE TIPS
Engine:
As this weather heats up, so will your engine! Cooling systems are an extremely important part of your car’s system, and It may be a great time to get your coolant flushed. Always ensure the coolant is filled to the proper level, and if necessary, you can put a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water in the overflow reservoir. As you check your engine cooling system, be sure to take a look at the condition of the belts, hoses, and anything rubber.
Battery:
Your vehicle battery is also an important part of your regular maintenance, and should be checked as a part of your seasonal maintenance. The summer heat can easily create wear and tear on your battery, so it’s very important to make sure your battery is mounted safely. Inspect for corrosion and build-up on the terminals, wearing protective gloves. Our team is happy to do this for you, as well as give your battery a test to see how it’s performing.
Tires:
Just like the winter, the extreme weather can affect your tire pressure. The heat of the road and a lack of tire pressure can create tire conditions worthy of a possible blow out. Keep in mind that extreme heat can expand the air inside of the tire, causing it to increase tire pressure. Follow the proper inflation guide listed in your owner’s manual or door jamb. Regular rotations are also an excellent idea.
Air Conditioning:
This one you can feel first hand. This one is not only important for you, but for your potential passengers. Maintain a good interior temperature by getting your air system checked! If it’s not cooling like it used to, you may need more refrigerant, or a possible leak somewhere in the system. Many vehicles now have a cabin air filter that keeps your inside air clean. It is important that this filter is regularly inspected and replaced as needed.
Fluids:
Transmission Fluid, Brake Fluid, Power Steering Fluid, Coolant, Engine Oil; all of these fluids lubricate and protect your system. Your owner’s manual should be able to give you a good idea of inspection intervals. Oil changes have typically been suggested to be performed around roughly every 3,000 miles, but nowadays can differ depending on your vehicle. Contact our Certified Service experts at Speck Chevrolet Buick of Prosser if you need some help to figure out how often you should be checking and replacing your oil & filter. Time for an oil change? You can schedule this service with us at Speck Chevrolet Buick of Prosser online!

WHAT DOES CHEVROLET’S MULTI-FLEX TAILGATE DO?
The new Multi-Flex tailgate found on the new Chevrolet Silverado models gives you a versatile tailgate that can transform from a step, to a bed extender, to a functional workspace and more with just the push of a few buttons on the tailgate, on the key fob, and even from inside the cabin.
Chevy’s Multi-Flex tailgate offers six different configuration options:
- Primary Tailgate Opening: This first one is the classic tailgate option, accessed with a press of the bottom button of the tailgate.
- Workbench: Flip the top half of the tail down with the press of the very top button on the tailgate. This gives you an easy-access, on-the-go workstation.
- Added Reach: Pressing both buttons on the tailgate at the same time will not online fold the tailgate down, but fold the middle part of the tailgate down further, providing extra reach when unloading cargo.
- Durable Step: The task of moving cargo is less straining with this configuration. With both tailgate and middle section folded down, the small inside panel is then opened and folded out — making a durable step.
- Bed Extender/Load Stop: The Bed Extender/Load Stop on the Multi-Flex tailgate is accessed simply by folding the tailgate down and opening the small panel used for the step.
- Load Stop (Closed tailgate): When the tailgate is fully closed, open the top portion and fully extend the step panel to get a convenient load stop on the middle.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO YOUR NEW BUICK
USB Connection
Each new Buick is equipped with USB ports (both USB Type-A and USB Type-C depending on vehicle equipment). Simply plug your phone in to one of these connection ports! Keep in mind that some integrated USB ports are “Charging-Only”, which means the port will specifically be for charging your devices. If you have an Android or Apple smartphone, connecting using the ports can give you access to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto platforms.
Android Auto / Apple CarPlay
Access the features of your phone with these smartphone integrating platforms! You can utilize music apps, navigation and more. To get started with Android Auto, an app either must be downloaded or will already be downloaded to your device depending on how new the phone is. Once this app is installed, you can plug in your phone and Android Auto will begin. Apple CarPlay is built in the iOS, so it is also available once your phone is plugged in.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a great way to stay connected on-the-go, all wirelessly! You can even control your connected device with voice recognition! To connect to Bluetooth, ensure your vehicle is on, and head to the Bluetooth screen on your Buick’s display. On your device, make sure your Bluetooth is turned on. Find the “Phone” icon on your Buick screen and tap “Connect Phone”, and then “Add Phone”. You should then see the displayed name on your Buick underneath your available Bluetooth devices on your phone; tap the name and a passkey will appear. If this number matches both the Buick’s display and your phone, tap to confirm and you’re all connected!
